We have always liked Vino's and was surprised that a year or two had passed since we last visited.  Was not disappointed on this visit as both the food and service was good.  Surprising though that I did not like the By the Glass wine selections offered on the menu.  With a Sommelier as the Owner, I thought the wine offering would be better.  We were seated in the bar on this visit around 5:30 pm.  Place was filled on a Saturday night.  We started with the Morel Mushroom Loco Moco ($16) which was topped with an egg.  Not bad.  The Pickled Golden Beets ($15.95) were fresh and delicious.  Loved them.  The Bone Marrow ($16) was what can I say. Its Bone Marrow and so delicious.  Loved the Braised Short Rib Ragu served with it.  An appetizer in itself with the toasted bread. The Grilled Octopus ($16) was a little tough but I liked the Smoked Ham Hock Ragu with White Beans.  Caesar salad ($9.50) was good size so all three of us split it and enjoyed a little each.  By the time we got our entrees, we were all pretty much full and satisfied with the appetizers.  I ordered the Seafood Bolognese ($20.95).  Loved the Pasta and Seafood.  Really good dish that I ended up taking home and finishing the next night.  Would definitely order this again.  My Daughter enjoyed the Bolognese Pasta ($20.95) and my Wife liked the Whole Crispy Branzino ($25.95).  Overall the pricing here is good for Honolulu restaurants.  We have paid much more for less quality and taste.

Super Fresh local Mahi Mahi made this a delicious meal.  Simple grilled Mahi Mahi with Avocado and greens topped with Olive Garden Dressing.

Burgers and Things is a cool little spot located under the Pali Highway.  Loved the comic book themed restaurant and kids working there.  We arrived on a Saturday after the restaurant was featured on a local television morning news.  Parking in back was full and tight so we parked down the street and walked over.  Place was packed with customers seated and standing.  We stood a bit to observe the flow and figure out how to order.  Then we saw the counter that says "Start Here".  Nobody was at the counter so we looked at the menu until a young guy welcomed us and told us about the Burgers.  The Doe A Deer Burger has won a National Burger Competition he said and they beat Michelin Star Chefs.  I was down for a Burger made of Venison but could not get over the $17 price tag.  Wow I thought this better be good.  My Wife ordered the Wagyu Say Burger $13.  Ordered the Kimchi-Li Fries which also are National Award Winning and the Garlic Truffle Fries but their fryer was down so no fries on this day.  Ordered the Triforce Potato Salad $5 instead of the fries.  As we waited tables cleared so we were able to sit down.  We served ourself drinks from the fountain.  For $2 the drinks are unlimited so as we waited we consumed far too much soda.  The Potato Salad arrived and I was taken back on the presentation.  A small scoop on a large paper tray.  The Potatoes were a bit sweet and pretty basic.  $5 I thought was a bit much for this side dish.  Our name was soon called and the Burgers were delivered to our table.  I looked at my Doe A Deer Burger and again thought about the $17 price.  My Wife dug into her Wagyu Say Burger and liked the flavors.  My Daughter also said it was good.  They only questioned the $13 price and then said they would not pay $13 for the Burger again.  My Venison Burger topped with Pineapple and a Bourguignon Sauce looked good on the plate.  OK this is it.  A National Award Winning Burger that cost me $17.  I took about three small bites and then offered the Burger to my Wife.  She took a bite and shrugged her shoulders saying "ok".  Cannot say that this was anywhere near my favorite Burger.  It was not.  I could by 6 In N' Out Burgers for the $17 price and be much more satisfied.  I took half of the Burger home and never finished it.  Seventeen bucks down the drain.

Enjoyed a simple and delicious dinner at home for our 20th Anniversary.  My lovely Bride wanted a salad and something light.  Not wanting to disappoint, I decided to go with Prosciutto Wrapped Melon as an appetizer and a King Crab and Sashimi Salad as the entree.  Entire family loved this meal.  I am so blessed to be married for twenty years.  I am a very flawed person yet my Wife is perfection.  She has put up with my adolescent behavior and twenty year old mentality for twenty years.  Boy am I lucky!

I love Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and this dish delivers on flavor and can be eaten for a week.  I used Ground Beef and Ground Pork along with lots of Garlic, Carrots, Bell Pepper, Celery and Oregano.  Topped with Fresh Basil and Italian Parsley from our garden and grated Parmesan Cheese.  Yummy!

I love BBQ Chicken and enjoy Brussels Sprouts when cooked correctly.  I made a topping for the Brussels Sprouts using Shallots, Garlic, Bacon, Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar.  Sooo good!

 We love Maile and Maile's Thai Bistro.  This is our "go to" Thai restaurant in Honolulu. 
Everything is good here including the staff who always treats us well.  Love them all and love the food too.  My girls go crazy over the Cold Tofu which is served with a homemade sauce that Maile should really bottle and sell.  It is really that good and makes Tofu delicious.  I love the Spring Rolls and always start with them when dining here.  Love the fresh lettuce, cucumber, mint and Thai Chili paste.  We seem to always order the Pad Thai with Chicken and Ong Choy with Beef.  Never disappoints.  On the visit Maile made a special Pork Belly dish that knocked our socks off.  I loved the Pork with a bit of onion.  Maile was here on this visit and it was nice to catch up with this busy lady's life and business.
